At Northumbria Daybreak we pride ourselves on providing a diverse range of stimulating, interesting and fun activities for our service-users. Staff draw on their own life skills, experience and training in order to ensure that activities and projects are delivered to a high standard. Service-users are encouraged to explore their own skills and areas of interest within the activities. Some activities are unique to particular branches and where this is the case it is explained in the text. There are five pages of activities to explore.

Independent Living Skills Programme ( available at all branches )

Our extensive living skills programme provides support, training and experience in all aspects of independent living and social interaction. This covers many areas including: personal care, relationships/friendships, domestic tasks, money management skills, out and about in the community, transport, numeracy & literacy, news & current affairs, social skills, self-advocacy, decision making, negotiation skills and hobbies and interests. Community resources are accessed regularly in the delivery of this varied and interesting programme.

Bakery & market stall ( available at the Hexham branch )

This unique project in Tynedale offers our service-users the opportunity to develop skills and gain work experience in our commercial bakery. A wide variety of cakes and biscuits are produced, with service-users involved in the entire process, from the preparation of ingredients to the actual baking and then on to the packing of the products. Furthermore, the products are sold on our weekly market stall in Hexham and this affords service-users the opportunity to gain social and monetary skills while also gaining satisfaction in seeing the finished products being bought by the general public.
