Computer and Internet skills. ( available at all branches )

In our fully equipped Information Technology (IT) rooms, our service-users can develop computer skills and have the World Wide Web at their fingertips to explore areas of interest, research and complete projects. This links into many other activities and is a valuable tool for learning and building upon existing skills and expressing ideas. Other media skills such as digital photography and video film production allow our service-users the opportunity to be creative and learn good production and composition techniques.

Café and hospitality skills. ( available at Newcastle and Hexham branches )

In the café, our service-users can gain catering, monetary and service skills while providing healthy home-cooked meals. Service-users are involved with the planning of the menu, food preparation and food hygiene skills. They prepare ingredients, cook and then serve the food to the café’s customers. Serving at the till helps service-users to develop monetary awareness. It is a very satisfying activity which promotes good team-work, communication and social skills while delivering a quality service to others.

Recycling Project ( available at the Hexham branch )

Our unique service offers a complimentary collection of recyclable materials from houses in the Hexham area. This project provides our service-users with the opportunity to deliver a service to the community while gaining an understanding of environmental issues and to develop social skills. The materials are identified, sorted and delivered to community recycling bays.
