Music Appreciation ( available at all branches )

Music has many benefits: it is fun, stimulating, socially inclusive, therapeutic and allows expression such as movement and dancing or tapping a beat. Music moves us in so many ways and our music sessions aim to promote the benefits of this creative medium. Our service-users explore different instruments, rhythms, sounds and musical styles. We also explore the use of technology and music software to enhance the appreciation of music. Service-users can write their own tunes on our virtual recording studio and mixing desk at our Consett branch.

Creative Crafts ( available at all branches )

Our stimulating and varied crafts activities offer our service-users the opportunity to develop their creative talents. This is achieved through exploring different materials such as paint, textiles, salt dough, glass painting and mosaic. This is achieved through participation in various individual and group projects. Service-users develop practical, social and co-ordination skills in handling tools and equipment while also getting the satisfaction of seeing a project through from an idea to the finished piece of work that can be displayed for others to see. Some craft items are available for sale.
