The Walled Garden is situated in the beautiful grounds of the Minsteracres retreat centre with the towns of Consett, Hexham and Corbridge within reasonably short travelling distances.

It is the home of our very successful horticulture outlet. Service-users can gain horticulture skills from the propagation of seeds to the harvesting of vegetables and flowers. Large polytunnels and greenhouses on the two-acre site allow all-year round gardening.

Visitors including those from the nearby retreat centre can come and buy “direct from the grower” and groups actively deliver produce to several outlets in the community.

The branch is also used on a daily basis for several other activities, including independent living skills, computer and multimedia skills, arts, crafts and music.

Our sensory room provides a theraputic environment to calm or stimulate service-users through each of their senses.

Accredited courses are run, which allow our service-users to gain a recognised award in various subject areas.
